Young Entrepreneurs Academy Update

The South County Economic Development Council's Young Entrepreneurs Academy (YEA) program continued to inspire and educate the next generation of business leaders this week. On Wednesday, May 8th, the YEA students had the opportunity to learn first-hand from a government representative, Thomas Lawton, who serves as the District Representative for California
State Senator Steve Padilla.

Lawton provided the aspiring young entrepreneurs with invaluable insights into navigating the process of applying for various business licenses and permits. He explained the different requirements and steps involved, offering the students practical guidance on how to successfully get their ventures off the ground.

Beyond the technical details, Lawton also emphasized the ways in which government entities can serve as a resource and partner for new business owners. He highlighted programs and initiatives designed to support small businesses, including financing options, mentorship opportunities, workshops and community events.  The students were eager to learn how they could leverage these public sector tools to help turn their entrepreneurial dreams into reality.
