WHAT IS CORONAVIRUS?

Coronaviruses are a large family of viruses named for the crown (corona) around their surface and are commonly circulated among humans, causing mild illness like common cold 

The virus has been named “SARS-CoV-2” and the disease it causes has been named “coronavirus disease 2019” (abbreviated “COVID-19”) 

COVID-19 symptoms may appear in 2 - 14 days after exposure, resulting in mild-to-severe illness and death 

How is it spread?

Between people who are in close contact with one another (within about 6 feet).

Through respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs, sneezes, or talks.

These droplets can land in the mouths or noses of people who are nearby or possibly be inhaled into the lungs.

COVID-19 may be spread by people who are not showing symptoms.

What are the symptoms?

Fever or chills, Cough

Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing

Fatigue, Muscle or body aches, Headache

New loss of taste or smell, Sore throat

Congestion or runny nose

Nausea or vomiting, Diarrhea

COVID-19 Testing

Onsite labwork is available at the discretion of your Symbol medical provider.

    Call your Symbol Clinic immediately. We may be able to help. Testing for COVID-19 can be managed through your Symbol Clinic at no cost to you. Before coming into the clinic, call for your appointment, though, so we can get you prompt care.

  • Can Symbol Health Test for COVID-19?

    Yes. Symbol Clinics are equipped with tests for onsite collection of suspected COVID-19 specimens. Either with an oral or a nasal swab, Symbol can send your test off to a third-party laboratory for analysis. Results usually take 48 hours or 2 business days.
