New lease standards originally issued back in February 2016 went through a series of extensions due to the pandemic and contention. The new lease standards are finally effective for non-public entities for annual periods beginning after December 15, 2021. The new lease standard overrides all previous lease standards and significantly changes how all leases will be presented and shown within your financial statements.

The Consolidated Appropriations Act and the American Rescue Plan Act expanded the Employee Retention Credit for businesses from the original “CARES” Act. The purpose of the Employee Retention Credit is to incentivize employers to retain their employees during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The incentives start with a $5,000 annual credit per employee in 2020 and increase to a $7,000 quarterly credit per employee in 2021.

Ever since the Supreme Court released its decision in South Dakota v. Wayfair on June 21, 2018, economic nexus has been a popular subject for all businesses. Sales tax economic nexus generally requires an out-of-state seller to collect and remit sales tax once the seller meets a threshold of sales transactions or gross receipts activity within the state. No physical presence is required for filing and collection requirements.
