Marine Group Boat Works Invests in State-of-the-Art Equipment, Modernization

Marine Group Boat Works (MGBW) announced that it will undertake a multi-million modernization project at its 15-acre ship-building and repair facility on San Diego Bay in Chula Vista. 

Central to the project will be the addition of a new state-of-the-art mobile boat lift, which will be the only sideways-crawling travelift on the West Coast and the largest in the United States.

CBX and This is About Humanity fundraise and donate more than
$100k to fight food insecurity at the U.S. - Mexico border

Cross Border Xpress (CBX) and This is About Humanity (TIAH) reiterated their commitment to the communities at the U.S. Mexico border by delivering a check for $102k to the Tijuana Sin Hambre organization: this fundraiser and matching fund effort results from the fourth edition of the Warm Hearts Warm Meals campaign.

The County Wants Input on Future Infrastructure Needs

If you’d like a say on County projects like sidewalks, fire stations, Live Well centers and libraries, here’s your chance.

The County is holding meetings to get your feedback on needed improvements and future facilities.

Each year, the County reviews and revises its forecast of planned and potential capital projects to ensure that they are taking care of aging infrastructure. But it also wants to address any emerging issues or needs.

Assist Resident Tuition for Low-Income Students in Border Region

(Sacramento) On Friday, Governor Gavin Newsom signed Assembly Bill 91 into law to eliminate the barrier of high tuition expenses for low-income students in the California-Mexican border region. 

The law will create a 5-year pilot program that allows students who live in Mexico and within 45 miles of the California border an exemption from out-of-state tuition rates.
