Helping Small Businesses Recover After Historic Storms

Recent historic storms have ravaged many small businesses and nonprofits across San Diego County.

To help San Diegans recover from the historic storm on Jan. 22, the City of San Diego and community partners have stepped up to help. The City of San Diego's Economic Development Department (EDD) will be giving emergency relief grants up to $2,500 per applicant.

Applications open Monday, Feb. 12, and EDD will prioritize businesses located in under-resourced communities and storm-affected areas. Get details about the City's grant program

$134M ‘facelift’ to improve mobility at California border crossing

Federal officials on Wednesday morning gave Border Report a tour of the newly remodeled Otay Mesa Port of Entry, one of two major ports of entry located between San Diego and Tijuana.

The U.S. General Services Administration announced last week it had completed a $134 million modernization and expansion project at the border crossing.

Mexico’s consul general in San Diego to take same post in Los Angeles

Carlos González Gutiérrez has been Mexico’s Consul General in San Diego since April 2019, but after four years on the job, he is being asked to take on the same role at the consulate in Los Angeles.

Thursday night, over social media, González Gutiérrez announced he had been nominated by Mexico’s President Andrés Manuel López Obrador to run Mexico’s Consulate in Los Angeles.
