Dr. Erin Mahoney from the San Diego Board of Education delivered a presentation at the South County EDC's monthly board meeting held on Dec 5th at PSAR. She highlighted the significance of community schools, emphasizing their role in improving student learning, strengthening families, and fostering healthier communities.

Beginning this Saturday, there will be changes at Ped-West, the border crossing point between the US and Mexico in San Diego. Due to the increasing demand for processing migrants, Ped-West will be temporarily closed to pedestrian crossers.
Instead, it will be utilized for the purpose of migrant processing. As a result of this shift in resources, there may be delays at vehicle ports of entry as staffing needs to be redirected to support the processing efforts.
San Diego State University Research Foundation (SDSURF) is requesting
proposals from qualified environmental service consultants to provide
environmental consulting services as part of a Brownfield Community-Wide
Assessment Grant focused on National City, CA.

The next application period for the California Competes Tax Credit (CCTC)
program is opening on January 2, 2024 and will close on January 22,
2024.
The CCTC is a tax credit program, run by the Governor’s Office of Business
and Economic Development (GO-Biz), that grants tax credits to businesses
that want to locate in California or stay and grow in the state.
