We are seeking your help with regards to the recent boil water advisory issued by the California-American Water Company that began on August 24, 2023. The California-American Water Company issued an E. coli Boil Water Advisory for customers in portions of Imperial Beach, the City of Coronado South of Fiddler’s Cove, certain customers within the City of San Diego neighborhoods of Nestor and Otay Mesa West, and portions of Southwest Chula Vista. County of San Diego is requesting that any businesses affected by this advisory complete the Boil Water Advisory Economic Impact Survey.
Survey will close on September 15, 2023.
The survey is voluntary and will be used to assist the County in collecting damage information associated with the current event. The South County EDC is looking for your assistance in reaching businesses directly impacted. We encourage our members to complete the survey if they have been affected by the advisory, or forward it on to businesses you know have been impacted. The information collected will be used to assist the County in seeking state and/or federal assistance. Completing the survey does not guarantee that you will be eligible or receive assistance, but it can help us gather the necessary data to request funding.
If and when it is safe to lift the advisory, Cal Am will make the first notification to its impacted customers, and that will be shared by impacted cities and agencies. If you have any questions about the advisory, you can call Cal AM Water at 1-888-237-1333 or visit www.amwater.com for more information. We appreciate your assistance and will keep in contact with local and state agencies over the coming days to share programs that become available.
Sincerely,
South County Economic Development Council, (SCEDC)

South County Economic Development Council (SCEDC) is excited to announce its participation in the future site of Sun Coast Market Co-Op in Imperial Beach. The community-owned market will feature sustainable, locally sourced nutritional food options for the region.
The event was attended by Mayor Paloma Aguirre, representatives from the American Heart Association, and other local vendors.
“This would be the first co-op of its kind in the South Bay,” Imperial Beach mayor Paloma Aguirre said.
Organizers have raised $1.8 million so far but they need to raise $1.6 million more to make the co-op a reality.
SCEDC's President Jim O'Callaghan spoke about the importance of supporting efforts to improve access to healthy, locally sourced foods. The event was a great success, and SCEDC is honored to have been a part of it.
Sun Coast Market Co-Op is a great organization that deserves support. For more information about Sun Coast or to donate to this great organization, please visit their website.
