of collaboration, networking, and knowledge exchange.

SCEDC Collaborates with Commercial Law Development Program
The South County Economic Development Council (SCEDC) had the privilege of meeting with a Philippine Delegation visiting with the Commercial Law Development Program (CLDP) through the United States Department of Commerce to explore ways to enhance public-private partnerships and foster economic growth. The CLDP, an initiative of the U.S. Department of Commerce, aims to improve policy, legal, and regulatory conditions for business in developing countries.
Our discussion featured esteemed guests, including Honorable Consul General DeCastro, California Transportation Commissioner Clarissa Reyes Falcon, Southwestern Community College District Vice President Kris Galacia-Brown, Chair Debbie Espe, CEO Jim O'Callaghan, Municipal Manager at Republic Services Risa Baron, and other distinguished leaders. This collaboration underscores our commitment to creating better economic opportunities both locally and globally.

The city of Chula Vista held a groundbreaking ceremony on Wednesday June 26th for a new development called Amara Bay. This 35-acre project will bring a hotel, condominiums, retail shops, and other amenities to the area near the Gaylord Pacific Resort, which is also currently under construction.
The mayor of Chula Vista, John McCann, stated that this groundbreaking marks the beginning of transforming the future of the city. The Amara Bay development, along with the Gaylord Pacific Resort, are expected to significantly reshape and revitalize Chula Vista.

County Supervisors unanimously adopted a new $8.53 billion budget for Fiscal Year 2024-25 during a board meeting Tuesday. The budget will take effect July 1.
The adopted budget shows an increase of $364.5 million or 4.5% from last year. The new budget also adds 84 employees for a total of 20,471.25 staff years.
The South County Economic Development Council (SCEDC) is leveraging intelligent
mapping tools to better understand the region's business landscape.
By analyzing data on factors like income levels, education, and home
values, the SCEDC can identify trends, target resources, and tailor
its support to meet the unique needs of businesses in South County
communities.
