Classes below are listed by age. Need-based scholarships are available upon application and due by March 23. 


STORY AND SONG

K - 1st Grades

Explore the intersections between story and song in this imaginative, musical class! With an emphasis on creative movement, music, and acting, students will bring stories to life through fun exercises and activities. This class encourages listening, body awareness, rhythm, creative expression, and collaboration.

MUSICAL THEATRE

In this class, young actors will explore song, dance, and storytelling. With engaging exercises and activities, students will learn about vocal technique, rhythm, simple choreography, and gain confidence, body awareness, focus, and the ability to collaborate within a group! Apply your skills in an informal presentation for friends and family.

Dive into the foundations of acting technique and improvisation in this fun and collaborative class that explores character! Discover how to use your body and voice to make bold and specific character choices and learn how to collaborate and honestly with other actors on stage. This interactive acting class will provide students with the fundamental techniques to explore and create new characters. Through imaginative improvisational games and exercises that enhance spontaneity, creativity, and specificity, students will dive into the physical and vocal adjustments that occur when embodying a character. Young actors will leave feeling more confident to take risks and make big choices on stage and off. Apply your skills in an informal presentation for friends and family.

Discover the fun and fundamentals of musical theatre technique by integrating acting, singing, and simple choreography in the development of a Broadway repertoire. Students will be introduced to proper vocal technique, body awareness, acting through movement, and how to work within an ensemble to tell a story. Apply your skills in an informal presentation for friends and family. With new material every semester, this class can (and should) be taken multiple times!

Unlock your imagination in this fun, on-your-feet improv class! Students will learn to think outside of the box, collaborate, quickly develop characters, and build on a creative idea by saying “yes! and...”  Through exercises, improv games, and activities students will learn to take risks, access creativity, gain confidence, and discover the FUN in fundamental improvisation.

Learn audition etiquette and techniques in a class led by professional musical theatre actor and teaching artist Bridget Davis. With an emphasis on solo songs, students will learn how to unlock their most authentic and connected performance. At the end of the course, students will leave with audition-ready material and feel prepared to put their best foot forward.

Lights… Camera… Audition! Explore the fundamentals of on-camera auditions in a four-session course led by professional actor and producer Marlane Barnes. Best known for her work on Mad Men and Sons of Anarchy, Marlane will coach actors through scenes from real-world TV and film scripts. Learn on-camera tips and technique, scale your performances from stage to screen, explore your type, and hone your on-camera and self-tape audition skills. No experience required.

Learn audition etiquette and techniques from The Rep’s Casting Director Peter Mensky. With an emphasis on solo songs, students will learn how to unlock their most authentic and connected performance. Actors will be asked to bring in a 32-bar cut of an audition song to workshop in class. At the end of the course, students will leave with audition material and feel prepared to put their best foot forward.

BROADWAY CARDIO | TEENS AND ADULTS

This all-levels class uses the intensity of dance to create a cardio-driven fitness experience like none other. The hour is filled with simple accessible movements to work on coordination and to help build stamina. Through a continuous dance flow combined with conditioning exercises, we will discover how and when to use the music, your breath, control of energy level and focus on the various stabilizing muscle groups to keep your body moving effectively and safely through space. The music will surely drive you into better personal fitness in this high-energy and vigorous group class. Don your sneakers and let’s dance, sweat and “Move it, Move it!”
