Project Elements: Tree Canopy Assessment and iEco 5 Report Sample Inventory for nine cities, Ecosystem Services Analysis

Description: The Treasure Valley Urban Tree Canopy (UTC) Assessment project area encompassed nine municipalities and adjacent developed or rapidly developing areas. It includes both the public and private lands, spanning over two counties in the Treasure Valley region. This two-part assessment includes a field-based sampling inventory of 250 trees on one tenth (1/10) acre plots throughout the 16,640 acre study area and a geospatial UTC Assessment. Analysis of the UTC and Land Cover Assessment were completed and an Ecosystem Benefits Analysis, including: air quality, energy, stormwater, and carbon. This project also included GIS-based and other tools to model strategic tree canopy development scenarios and training for Treasure Valley Canopy Partners on use of these tools to accomplish their management objectives.
