The Olympus III Pavement Marking System

A truck mounted road tape application system jointly developed by 3M™ and Straub Design for the transportation safety market.

The Olympus III Pavement Marking System provides an efficient method of applying 3M™ Stamark™ High Performance pavement marking tape to road surfaces.

Positive application and cut-off is achieved by the specially designed, heavy duty applicator, which is controlled by a hydraulically articulated lift mechanism.

General Information

  • The Olympus III System is a modular, high productivity attachment for applying pavement marking tape that can be installed on a standard flatbed truck. The system combines safety with productivity by bringing your operators off the road, reducing their exposure to live traffic.
  • High speed manual splicing capability.
  • Robust, fixed knife cutting mechanism.
  • Asphalt and concrete surface application
  • Application speeds of one roll (120 yds.) per minute, including splice time. (productive, long line operation)
  • Maximum recommended application speed, 5 mph.
  • Operates with driver and two operators on truck bed.
  • Bolts to any sufficiently sized flatbed truck with minimal modification.
  • Single rear axle flatbed truck with payload greater than 10,000 lbs. is recommended. Distance from ground to top of truck bed can vary from 44" to 52". Truck width can vary from 92" to 102". Applicator extends 48" from edge of truck bed (extension distance for a bed height of 46").
