What’s happening with consumers' behavior in the retail channel and where is it headed as we enter 2025?
Big Chalk sees some signs of macroeconomic optimism, with increased wages and falling inflation. However, we expect grocery and CPG retailers must again walk a fine line between right-sized pricing strategies and improved shopping experience in 2025 to maintain growth. While dollars-sold across the CPG industry at large was up about 2% in 2024, the overall volume of products sold was down almost 1%… suggesting consumer budgets are still near the brink… and any uptick in inflation will create severe headwinds.
