Understanding Access: Health Coverage for Kansas’ Hispanic Communities

When: 10-11:30 a.m., Thursday, June 27

Where: Zoom virtual meeting - link will be sent with confirmation email

Event Overview:

The uninsured rate in Kansas (8.6 percent) was higher than in the U.S. overall (8.0 percent) for the second year in a row in 2022, even as the rate in Kansas and the nation improved between 2021 and 2022. Kansans who are Hispanic, any race, had the highest uninsured rate at 20.1 percent and non-Hispanic White Kansans had the lowest uninsured rate at 6.2 percent.

In light of these disparities, the Kansas Health Institute (KHI) will host a hybrid event on June 27 that aims to delve into the statistics and uncover the underlying factors contributing to these coverage gaps, with a special focus on the Hispanic community in Kansas.

KHI will present an interactive overview of the data, followed by a panel discussion with state partners.

Event Highlights:

Engage with the Latest Data: Participants will explore the most current data through graphs and interactive maps, providing a comprehensive understanding of health coverage trends in Kansas.
Understand the Implications for Hispanic Communities: Hear from a panel who will discuss the disparities in coverage affecting Hispanic Kansans and the obstacles they face in obtaining insurance.
Explore Opportunities to Overcome Barriers: Discover ongoing efforts aimed at reducing disparities and enhancing insurance coverage among the Hispanic population in Kansas.

Whether attending in person or virtually, this event will provide valuable insights into the disparities and opportunities within the insurance landscape of Kansas.

Join us for a day of learning and engagement dedicated to addressing these critical issues.
