Stakeholder ecosystems in action

Redefine is committed to environmental sustainability and, as part of our green lease framework, we have developed a shared benefit framework tailored to each sector to enable tenants to implement efficiency initiatives that benefit landlords and tenants. In this respect, it’s great for us that Pick n Pay Clothing at Blue Route Mall was awarded a
4 Star Green Star Interiors v1 rating, which indicates industry "Best Practice" in evaluating sustainability performance.

first for the South Africa
In this first for the South African retail clothing industry, Pick n Pay Clothing has become the only one to date to be recognised by the Green Building Council South Africa (GBCSA) for its sustainable approach to refurbishing the interiors of its growing store network. Pick n Pay Clothing’s General Manager, Hazel Pillay, said, "This is an incredible achievement by our team, who are successfully balancing the dichotomy of growing a business whilst being environmentally friendly. Through this work, we have a blueprint for executing our strategy of opening new stores in a sustainable manner."

An asset to our retail portfolio
We fully endorse Ms Pillay’s statement and wish to congratulate the Pick n Pay Clothing team. Their store at Blue Route Mall is an asset to our retail portfolio and a great example for other tenants to follow. We look forward to collaboration with many tenants, in all of our properties, to assist them in also attaining similar ratings.

Pick n Pay Clothing’s efforts represent an example of how we can work towards mutually beneficial relationships in our stakeholder ecosystems throughout our portfolios. We are also confident that more Pick n Pay Clothing stores will soon follow suit. They have set the ball rolling and our aim is to help build the momentum. Well done, Pick n Pay Clothing!
